What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure aimed at improving the color of the teeth using special gels, with the goal of achieving a bright smile.

How is teeth whitening performed? There are two methods:

  1. At-home whitening with trays: Transparent trays are custom-made by the dental laboratory, onto which the patient applies the special gel. The trays are worn either for half an hour twice a day or during sleep. The treatment lasts for about one week.

  2. Combination of in-office whitening with at-home tray maintenance: Whitening is performed at the dental office, while trays for at-home maintenance are also fabricated, offering faster and immediate results. The patient can also use the trays at home according to their needs.

What is internal bleaching of a discolored tooth?

In cases of discolored teeth, such as teeth that have undergone root canal treatment and acquired a grayish color, internal bleaching is performed with several visits to the dental office. Whitening material is placed inside the tooth that has been endodontically treated, along with the use of a transparent tray and special gel. This treatment lasts for a few days until the desired result is achieved.
