What are crowns and bridges?

A dental crown is a structure that follows the contour of a tooth and is used to replace teeth that have been damaged, broken, undergone root canal treatment, or lost their natural shape and color. The placement of a crown improves strength, chewing ability, and aesthetics, restoring the natural appearance and harmony with the remaining teeth.

What are the available material options for making a crown?

The options include all-ceramic crowns (such as Emax type) and Zirconia crowns. Both are all-white constructions, resembling natural teeth, and offer durability. There are also metal-ceramic crowns which, although externally have white porcelain, have a metal core internally.

How do the appointments for crown fabrication progress?

The process involves two visits. In the first one, under local anesthesia, the tooth is shaped appropriately, and space is created for the new crown. Then, digital impressions are taken, and a temporary crown is placed. In the second appointment, the new crown is tried on and applied, then the final cementation is done. In the case of metal-ceramic crowns, there is an additional stage for the final processing of the crown by the technician, which occurs between the first and second appointments.
